Le Labo Labdanum 18 Eau de Parfum 3.4oz

Created by perfumer Maurice Roucel in 2006, Labdanum 18 is one of the denser, more animalic entries in Le Labo's Classic Collection. It opens on French labdanum and vanilla, moves through a rich heart of civet, musk, castoreum, resins, tonka bean, gurjan balsam and cinnamon, and finishes on a base of birch and patchouli — a composition the brand itself describes as defying the usual rules of perfumery: dense and ambery, yet surprisingly discreet once it settles.

On skin, the opening is warm and resinous with a noticeably animalic, leathery edge from the civet and castoreum, before softening into a smoky, powdery amber-vanilla drydown. Despite its intensity in the bottle, it wears closer to the skin than its ingredient list suggests, with moderate projection and long-lasting depth. It's best suited to cool weather and evening wear, and stands as the darkest, most resin-heavy option among Le Labo's tea and musk fragrances.
